Towards a Second Century

The Victorian Lodge of Research No 218 is a warranted lodge within the jurisdiction of the United Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of Victoria, Australia.

The Victorian Lodge of Research, established in 1911, is dedicated to Masonic research and the diffusion of Masonic knowledge; it seeks to uphold the great tradition of the Craft and the promotion of interest in all that constitutes Freemasonry. It sets no limits to its research, except it be within masonic bounds; it addresses the problems that confront the Craft today and confronts the challenge of the future. Finally, the Lodge holds the view that, in the ultimate interests of the craft, no opinion be stifled, provided it be advanced in the true masonic spirit.

Worshipful Master’s Welcome

Welcome!  The 2012 -13 year promises to be an exciting one for our lodge. Fred Shade and Jean-Michel David have done a great job over the last three years to put the lodge on track for the future.

A working party led by Ian Richards is currently looking at all aspects of the our strategy including the Certificate and Diploma of Masonic Studies as well as our research and educational roles in this jurisdiction. The Working Party will soon report to the Committee of General Purposes with recommendations for our future development which will be presented for discussion and determination in the first half of the year.

We have an interesting program again this year and I look forward to welcoming our members and guests to our meetings.

Fraternal best wishes,

John Molnar
